Let's talk

A mobile-first payments brand, used by hundreds of thousands.

Uniware’s ePos business had grown from education into top corporates, retail and universities, but the market was changing fast with the rise of fintech start-ups. Our fintech UX design gave UPay a mobile-first brand and app that keep cashless wallets, ordering, booking and loyalty clear for any sector.

01 — The constraint

Complex payments, a fast-moving market.

Cashless wallets, ordering, event booking, payments and loyalty points all had to live in one app, and stay clear for every user whatever their needs, as fintech start-ups reshaped the ePos market.

02 — What we built

Fintech UX design built on ‘flavours’.

A UI-first philosophy placed usability above decoration. A droplet motif, suggesting both a flavourant and a payment, let one brand adapt to each sector and user path through patterns, icons and animations.

  • A new UPay brand, pattern and icon system
  • Full UX design for the payment apps and system
  • Prototypes tested across a variety of use cases
  • A responsive website, exhibition stands and print collateral
03 — The outcome

One app, many sectors.

Testing simplified complex functions into a clear hierarchy of actions. The app has been used by hundreds of thousands of people in professional, consumer and student settings, and development has continued over several years.
